We are happy to announce that francetv info – the new real-time information platform of France Télévisions – will be live tomorrow. France Télévisions is one of the leading French television broadcasters.

af83 designed and developed the entire web platform:

- On the user experience front, we designed a real-time content management system allowing journalists to efficiently drill down into and monitor the massive amount of content on the web, and pick out only the fresh, relevant bits for francetv info’s continuous information feed.

- Utilizing the latest and most cutting-edge technologies, we delivered to France Télévisions a platform capable of serving real-time information to a million simultaneous users, while offering a connected and integrated experience across web browsers, mobiles, tablets, and even connected TVs.

- Designed as a social platform that turns users into contributors, the platform allows for commenting, sending photos and videos, sharing on social networks, and more.

The iPhone application, developed in collaboration with our partner Applidium, is available today. The website will go live on Tuesday, November 15th.

af83 co-organizes and sponsors Open World Forum 2011

The Open World Forum (OWF) is the leading global open source forum, bringing together decision-makers, developers and users from all over the world to cross-fertilize open technological, business and societal initiatives to shape the digital future.

Taking place September 22-24, 2011, in Paris, the fourth edition focuses on the dual issues of the Internet and Open Source, with three key areas: Think Code and Experiment.

More than ever an accelerator in the adoption and progress of Open Source technologies and philosophy, af83 is co-organizing and sponsoring this year’s edition. Louis Montagne, af83 CEO, will chair the 2011 Open World Forum jointly with Jean-Pierre Laisné, Director of Open Source Strategy at Bull.

For Louis Montagne, "Free and Open Source Software is today an essential tool for the industry; its communities are the envy of the biggest innovative cells, but looking at it under a new prism is necessary. Free and Open Source is a culture, a way of sharing content; today it’s found in electronic devices, art... Anything can be Open Source; anything can be addressed in this way: Open Everything."

At his instigation, the Forum’s format has undergone a number of changes this year. "I really wanted to make the event evolve, to be more comprehensive, pragmatic and accessible, while keeping its forum and think-tank dimension: a place to yield ideas, an event after which communities change and projects are formed." Hence, two dimensions were added to the conference: Code, to gather the best developers, and Experiment, to share with the general public who is often interested but kept apart.

This is an event you do not want to miss. Register now and meet us there!

Find all the information about Open World Forum 2011 on the event website: http://www.openworldforum.org/

Back from OSCON 2011

A lucky aviator was in Portland, Oregon, last week to take part in OSCON 2011. OSCON (O’Reilly Open Source Convention) is a yearly event on all things Open Source, bringing together developers, innovators, businesspeople, and investors.

Information-packed, the event was a great opportunity to attend interesting keynotes and sessions on topics ranging from Javascript & HTML5, emerging languages, and mobile platforms to cloud computing, community management, and business. OSCON was also an opportunity for us to gain more exposure and meet new people from diverse backgrounds.

"This was our first time at OSCON, but certainly not our last. It was inspiring to learn firsthand about the tech and business of open source from some of the industry’s greatest experts," said Lum Osmani, af83’s Marketing Manager. "We had a great time meeting and engaging with new friends. There’s only one thing we take issue with: the conference’s location. Portland is a tad bit far from Paris."

On next June 16th, af83 will hold in its premises Pulse, the event organized for its clients. Pulse, it’s the occasion to gather partners, clients and friends during one evening "to the rhythm of tomorrow’s web"!

Meet, exchange, debate, all of this in a fun-filled atmosphere, on matters that are at the cutting edge of the web or that will shape it tomorrow: collaboration, real-time, brand content, experience design… If those words may look like buzzwords, they’re at af83 the heart of real expertise that we dedicate to our clients.
